About the Project
The project aims to strengthen the capacity of the Sariiraale Farmers’ Cooperative Society and enhance the resilience of its smallholder members to climate-induced shocks, particularly drought. By focusing on food security and income generation, the project supports sustainable development through a three-pronged approach:
Boosting Agricultural Productivity: Expanding and rehabilitating irrigation infrastructure, improving access to affordable inputs, and promoting climate-smart agricultural practices to increase maize and sorghum production.
Revitalizing Market Systems: Enhancing market linkages, improving financial inclusion, and supporting value chain development to increase grain sales and value addition.
Strengthening Institutional Capacity: Digitizing financial and project management systems and building governance and operational capacity within the cooperative.
This integrated approach is designed to secure household food supplies and increase incomes for farmers and value chain actors in Somalia.
